Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, and protect any information about you. It also explains how to contact us if you have any questions—we are happy to help.

We may change this notice from time to time, so please check back for updates.

We provide a range of car-rental–related services, including (but not limited to) products and services such as insurance, via our websites, mobile apps, email, and SMS. We also provide services through our business partners’ websites, social media pages, and other platforms. This notice applies to all personal data we collect through the platforms mentioned above, or when you contact us by email, live chat, phone, or mail.

Personal data you provide to us

We cannot help you make a booking or request a quote without certain information. When you do either, we will ask for the information we need to meet your request. The required information is very typical and includes your name, age, date and place of birth, and contact details (email, address, and phone number). It also includes information from your passport, ID card, and driver’s license, your loyalty program number (if any), and your payment details.

In addition, we collect information from your computer when you use any of our platforms—even if you don’t make a booking. This may include your IP address, browser type, and language settings.

After a booking, we may ask you for a review to help us improve our services and to help ensure future customers find exactly what they are looking for.

There are other ways you may provide information about yourself. For example, if you browse our services on a mobile device, you can share your current location with us so that we can provide the best possible services. For convenience, you can also open a user account that lets you view and manage bookings, as well as store your personal settings and passport/driver’s license details. This also makes future bookings easier.

Personal data you provide to us about others

You may add another person as an additional driver or make a booking on someone else’s behalf (e.g., a friend, family member, or colleague). In such cases, please ensure that the person is aware you are providing their details to us and that they have accepted how we handle their personal data as described in this notice. This is your responsibility.

Personal data we collect automatically

When you make a booking, we record the platform you used and how you arrived at our platform (for example, whether you came through another website).

Even if you don’t make a booking, we may automatically collect some information when you visit our platforms. This may include your IP address, the pages visited, browser type, click information, and details about your computer’s operating system, app version, language settings, device-specific settings, and data attributes that identify your device.

If you use a mobile device, we may also collect location-related details. We may analyze and process basic data related to installed apps on the device (such as name, description, and category).

Personal data we receive from other companies

We may also receive information about you from social media platforms, business partners, companies within the Haboub Group family, affiliates, and third parties. For example:

  • We work with business partners to offer our services on other platforms. When you make a booking on one of these platforms, we may share your personal data with them and they may share your personal data with us.

  • Companies that provide services you booked through our platforms may need to send us certain information about you if the booking leads to an insurance claim or a customer service dispute.

  • Our business partners may also send us information about you to help us display relevant advertising.

Why do we collect and use your personal data?

We request your personal data so we can book your car and anything else you need for your reservation, and to ensure you receive the best services. We also use it to communicate with you and to inform you about our latest deals and special offers.

We may use your personal data in the following ways:

  1. Bookings: To make and manage bookings and send necessary details to the company providing your car (or other products/services such as insurance). This includes contacting you about your bookings (modifications, confirmations, and reminders).

  2. Customer service: We provide 24/7 customer support. Our team needs your data to, for example, make a booking on your behalf or respond to your inquiries before, during, and after your booking.

  3. Customer reviews: We may use your contact details to send a short survey about the booking process. This helps us understand and improve our services and those of our partners.

  4. Account features: You can create a user account on our platforms. This requires providing personal data and allows you to do many useful things—manage bookings and other purchases, benefit from special offers, and manage your settings and preferences. It also makes future bookings easier.

  5. Marketing activities: We may use your personal data for marketing, which may include:

    • Contacting you by mail, phone, email, or SMS (based on the contact details you provide) to share news, special offers, discounts, and updates—including details about our products and services or those of our group companies or affiliated business partners. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any marketing email.

    • Contacting you by phone, email, or SMS with information about insurance products not included in your booking.

    • Showing you relevant offers on our platforms or on external sites, including social media.

    • Inviting you to take part in promotional activities such as referral programs or competitions.

  6. Communicating with you: We may contact you by phone, email, or SMS for several reasons, including:

    • Responding to and handling your requests.

    • Sending a reminder email about an incomplete booking to see if you need help completing it (we view this as a useful service, as it lets you continue without re-searching for a car or re-entering all details).

    • Sending a survey or inviting you to review your experience with us.

    • Sending other booking-related materials (e.g., how to contact us or another company if you need help during your booking).

    • Sending a summary of your past bookings.

    • Sending other administrative messages, including security alerts, even if you don’t have new bookings.

  7. Marketing research: We may ask you to participate in marketing research. We will not use any additional personal data you provide within such research without your consent.

  8. Fraud and prevention: To provide a safe and trustworthy service, we use your personal data to detect, prevent, and stop fraud and other illegal or unwanted activities. We may also use it for risk assessment and security purposes, including user and booking verification. This may mean placing some bookings on hold at times.

  9. Improving our services: We analyze personal data to improve the effectiveness and quality of our online services and enhance the overall user experience. We continually work to make our platforms easier and more enjoyable to use.

  10. Customer reviews after service: After your booking, we may invite you to review services provided by us or our business partners. Your reviews help future customers make the right decisions and help our partners improve their services. By sending a review, you agree to its display as described in our Terms & Conditions. You can submit a review anonymously by using your first name and country only.

  11. Contact monitoring: We may record phone calls and/or allow other staff to listen for training and quality assurance purposes. Calls are automatically deleted after a set time unless we have a legitimate reason to retain them (e.g., evidence of fraud).

  12. Legal purposes: In some cases, we may need to use your personal data to handle and resolve legal disputes, in connection with legal investigations, for compliance purposes, or to ensure we accurately apply our Terms & Conditions.

Providing your personal data is optional. However, depending on the service you want to use, we may be unable to provide that service unless we can collect certain personal information. For example, we cannot make your booking without your name and contact details.

Legal bases for processing your personal data

  • Contract performance: We need to use your personal data to fulfill any contract you have with us. For example, when you book a car, we must pass your booking details to the rental company to ensure the car is waiting for you.

  • Legitimate interests: We may use your information for our “legitimate interests” (a term that can apply to anything we consider essential to running our business effectively while respecting your rights and complying with the law). For example, to provide the most suitable content on our platforms, in our emails, and newsletters; to improve and promote our products and services; and for administrative purposes.

  • Consent: We may rely on your consent to use your personal data in certain cases—e.g., for direct marketing. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us or contacting us via the methods on our Contact page, mentioning “Privacy” in the subject line.

Which third parties do we share your personal data with, and why?

We work with a number of business partners involved in the services we provide, and in some cases we may share your personal data with them. In most cases, we send booking details to our business partners who help us deliver the service you request. We also share data with third parties such as payment service providers, advertising partners, companies within the Haboub Group, affiliates, and—in some cases—official authorities.

Third parties we may share your personal data with

  • The company/companies providing the rental car and/or related products and services: To make the booking, we need to send details to the provider(s) of the car and/or related products (including insurance) you requested. These details may include your name, age range, contact information (email, address, phone), date and place of birth, passport details, driver’s license information, and any preferences you told us about during booking. If there is a dispute regarding the booking, insurance coverage, or other customer service matters, we may need to provide the rental company with some personal data and booking information related to the dispute—this could include a copy of the booking confirmation and any information relevant to the complaint.

  • Our business partners: We work with partners worldwide. Some partners offer or promote our services and also assist other partners by offering or promoting travel-related services (including insurance).

  • Relevant authorities: We disclose personal data to government or investigative authorities when required by law (or regulations with the force of law). This includes court orders, subpoenas, and orders arising from legal proceedings and criminal investigations. We may also disclose personal data when necessary to prevent, detect, or prosecute fraud or other criminal acts. We may need to disclose personal data to competent authorities to protect and defend our rights or property or those of our business partners.

  • Third-party service providers: We may use third-party service providers to process personal data on our behalf and support us in delivering our services. For example, to contact you, send booking information on our behalf to service providers, or manage aspects of our website, call centers, or marketing activities. We may use third parties for market research and fraud detection/prevention services, including anti-fraud screening. These parties are bound by confidentiality obligations and are not permitted to use your personal data for any other purpose.

  • Advertising partners: We may share your email address and other personal data with external advertising partners to ensure you see relevant ads when we market our services through third-party partners. We also work with external ad networks to market services on other platforms and with third-party vendors who help us analyze our data. All such third parties are bound by confidentiality agreements and are not allowed to use your personal data for other purposes.

  • Payment service providers and other financial institutions: We work with third-party payment providers to arrange or guarantee payments. If you (or the cardholder used to make the booking) request a chargeback, we may need to share certain booking details with the payment provider and the relevant financial institution. This may include a copy of the booking confirmation or the IP address used to make the booking. We may also share information with relevant financial institutions if we deem it necessary to detect and prevent fraud.
